The loveliest and the most elongated excursion within the Himachal Pradesh is the trip from Chandigarh to Manali via Shimla. Most of the landscapes that are well-known within Himlayas are covered up in this Tour package, Hence the travelers having love for nature mostly visit this place. The splendid spots included in this journey are Shimla, Sarahan, Sangla, Chitkul, Kalpa, Nako, Dhankar,Kaza, Kunzumpass, Chandratal, Jispa, Rohtang pass and finally Chandigarh.
To kick start this beautiful journey from Chandigarh to Shimla you need to arrive at the Queen of Hills. There are around two routes to reach Shimla. One is via NH-5 and another one is via Kunihar - Ghanahatti. The travel takes around 3 h 55 min to cover 112 km through the former route whereas the later route takes 4 h 9 min, thus covering around 114.1 km respectively.
Today's journey includes your visit to different Temples that are situated along the way from Shimla to Sarahan. The distance covered of 163 km accomplished in 5 hours of travel. Visit the Sun temple at Nirath and Rampur. Further moving towards Sarahan, Visit the temple of Bhimakali , stated as one of the Shaktipeeths in Hindu Mythology.
Post an appetizing breakfast, start you trip from Sarahan to Sangla. Visit the settlements of Sangla village and if you move further you are going to arrive at the twin settlements of Chitkul and Rackcham. You will also witness the historic fort of Kamru today. Return to Sangla by evening and stay there overnight.
As you wake up get ready to move to the another sight of Himachal- Kalpa. This place is situated in the Kinnaur district of H.P. This place is elevated at an average height of 9,710 ft. The village of Kalpa is located just above Recong Peo. This place is famous for its apple cultivation. The spot looks magnificent during monsoon season. Following the trail, reach at the desired sight of Nako which is situated at an altitude of 12,014 ft. Overnight stay will be at Nako.
Move from Spiti valley at Sumdo towards the sight of Gyu. At Gyu you will witness a mummy of an old monk. Moving past Gyu, you enter the Ajanta of Himlayas- Tabo. From Tabo you need to travel to the infamous village of Dhankar. Dhankar is a historic village that lies within Spiti Valley. The monastery at Dhankar is another majestic sight worth witnessing. Dhankar Lake is an ideal spot situated between the deserted heaps of Spiti valley. Revert to Tabo by the end of the day and stay there overnight.
Today you need to travel to the headquarter of Spiti valley i.e Kaza. Enroute Kaza, visit the famous Kungri Monastery in Pin Valley. Pin Valley is also well-known for Pin Valley National Park which is a home for many endangered species. Later when you arrive at Kaza, stay there overnight and regain your energy for the next day's travel.
Today you are going to witness the crystal clear lake called as Chandratal Lake.This lake is also known as Moon Lake due to its moon like shape. Chandra Tal is opened while summer months and if you want to travel through Chandra Tal during Winter season, take the route of Kunzum La from Kaza. Firstly, move from Kaza to Losar and then to Kuzum la. From Kuzum la, Chandratal is situated just 19 km away.
As soon as get up, take your morning meals and be ready to enter the another fine sight of Jispa. The distance between Chandratal and Jispa stands about 133km which gets covered within 3 hours approximately. Located within the valley of Lahaul, Jispa stands at an elevation of 3,200 m above the Sea level. This spot is situated alongside the River Bhaga. Occupied on the well-known highway of Leh-Manali. Stay at the landscape of Jispa overnight.
The village is situated at the junction of two streams with the river Bhaga at the end. Jispa has a an elongated dry river-bed which is too rare to witness in Lahaul. Explore the popular sights of Suraj Tal Lake and Triloki temple accompanying the trail.This place has been blessed with the best. A river side encircled with the snow-patched mountains is the best view one can encounter. Visit Sri Trilokinath ji Temple placed in a village just 9 km from Lahaul-Spiti district. After taking the blessings of Sri Triloknath ji move towards Jispa and stay there overnight.
Kickstart, your trail from Jispsa post breakfast. The day is going to be among the memorable moments of your life as your trip is going to be filled with a lot of happenings. On this day you need to cover up around 240 km moving past Rohtang La pass which is at an elevation of 13,060 ft. You are going to witness some of the most charming valleys of the trip. The roads assembling into the landscape of Manali are broad and brilliant. Descend into the valley of Marhi which stands at an elevated height of 10,800 ft. Keylong(10,100 ft), Tandi(8,430 ft), Sissu(10,270 ft), Kokhsar, Gramphu(10,500 ft), are the settlements which need to be crossed to reach the city of Manali. Overnight stay takes place in a hotel/ guest house.
Visit the valley of Kullu, the most visited place after Manali during your revert journey to Chandigarh. You may stroll through Pandoh Dam Kullu market, Kullu Shawl factories, and Vaishno Mata Temple lying within the vicinity of Kullu, if you have got much time in hand. Later, you need to travel the City beautiful Chandigarh and Overnight stay will be at Hotel in Chandigarh.
