Overview

Indus river is one of the elongated river whose course of water moves from Pakistan, India and China. In Indian, this captivating river flows through the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and to the Eastern Asia in Tibet. This beguiling river is named as different languages as Sindhu in Sanskrit, in pali as Abasin, which eventually means 'river' , 'Stream' etc. Indus River is at an elevation of 4,255m above the sea level and surges from the Tibetan landscape thus moving into Himalayas at J&K. This fascinating river confluences with many tributaries such as- River Zanskar, River Jhelum, River Chenab, River Beas, River Ravi, Ravi Satluj and others from Pakistan and China. This enthralling river is also the witness of Indus Valley Civilization. At Ladakh, Indus River confluences with River Zanskar at Nimo. The Grades of the river rafting within the Indus river fluctuate from l to lV. The scenic beauty of the course is worth an experience. The famous river rafting spots are Phey-nimo,Upshi -kharu,Kharu- Spituk and Nimo-saspol. If you are fascinated with the bit harder course then you should experience the river rafting from Alchi to Khalsey. The expedition is mostly for about one to five days. The best season for encountering the white water river rafting within Himalayas is from July to September.

Brief Itinerary
Phey-Nimo

The journey starts from the village of Phey. You will witness the best of landscape while moving past the high cliffs and lower hamlets. This excursion ends at the convergence of the twin rivers of Zanskar and Indus. These rivers assemble at the spot called Nimo. The easy gradients and near to nil turbulences makes it a little less difficult rafting. The Grade of this rafting comes under the level of II and III. The distance from the commencing point of this safari viz Phey village is of about 12 km and that of Nimo, the ending point is of 36 km from the capital city- Leh.

Upshi -Kharu

The starting point of this expedition is at Upshi which is located alongside the Indus River valley and Tanglang La with Leh- Manali highway being the landmark of this place. The hospitality provided by the altruistic people of Upshi will be remembered by you for lifetime. The place is situated 47 km away from the capital city-Leh. If compared with the previous route of Phey-Nimo, it's easier and well defined and talking about it's elongation, is longer in terms of distance then Phey-Nimo Rafting. The Grades included in this engrossing rafting is I and II at times.

Kharu- Spituk

This expedition starts from Kharu, one among 9 blocks in Ladakh which includes 15 villages within it's vicinity. This spot is located alongside Indus river just 45 km far from the township of Leh. This gripped rafting is easiest of all. Mostly amateurs and the beginners enjoy this white river rafting having less volumes and flips too. The Grade of rafting ranging from Kharu to Spituk, the infamous sight of historic Spituk monastery is of level one.

Nimo-Saspol

This ravishing rafting starts from the spot where Indus and Zanskar rivers meet into each other. Nimo, is situated at 36 km from Leh and the later spot at 70 km from Leh. Saspol is elevated at an altimeter of 4,945m and on Leh-Srinagar​ Highway, near Alchi. enjoy the picturesque view of Hugh mountains and small hamlets present on either sides of river Indus.

    The route through Hemis-Stakna-Thiksey-Choglamsar is most popular with adventure travelers while there are other routes such as Phey-Nimo, Kharu-Spituk, Upshi-Kharu, Saspol-Khaltsy and Phey-Saspol as well. These routes are equally mesmerizing and offer similar adventures. The Indus River, after passing through captivating landscapes then enters in to the territory of Pakistan.

    Rafting in Ladakh is also undertaken in Zanskar River, which is a Himalayan tributary of Indus. The river makes its way through astonishingly picturesque gorges and through the Zanskar habitations offering an incredible insight into rare Zanskari culture.

    The advisable maximum size of baggage that you should be carrying is 60 liters. Remember that you have to carry your luggage to the backup vehicle and into the accommodation .Any damage caused to the bike because of mishandling on the riders part is to be borne by the traveler .In case of change of permit fees, the difference will be payable by the traveler at the beginning of the trip .Permit Cost for Hanle cost 600 PP is not included in the deal

    Experience of any high altitude trek at least 1 trek

    · The climber must be fit and have sufficient stamina to cover 5 km of distance in 45minutes without a stress.
    · The climber should be able to carry a 10 kg backpack.
    · Heart problem, high blood pressure, asthma, and epilepsy cannot be reconciled on this mission. The climber must not have the conditions mentioned above.
