Begin the expedition with an exploration of the glistening town when the Himalayas are forming the best background every time. Zingchen is the gateway to the entrance of the most awaited Rumbak Gorge. You will be climbing up to an impressive altitude of 3050 meters and come at the narrow gorge.

Then you are invited to unfold the wild paths of mystical land of Husing by understanding the mountainous slopes. In extreme winter, the Snow Leopard and other animals are forced to come down from the high altitudes they live usually and that is why Hemis National Park is a perfect winter trek. You will have chances widened to spot them easily.

Explore Husing and walk around the Rumbak Valley and watch the Argali Sheep roaming around. Come back to Leh after capturing the manipulative sights of Husing and wind up your Snow Leopard trek.

Overview

When such creature moves out of their comfy zones to catch their prey, that is when it gets spotted by the trekkers.

Brief Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Leh

This wonderous trip starts with your arrival in the capital city of Ladakh. As the trek takes place only during the winter months of the year hence the only medium available to reach Leh is Airlines. One must disembark the plane Leh Airport and head towards the allocated hotel. Take rest in your respective rooms as the weather outside would be chilly and cold. Overnight stay happens to be in the same hotel.

Day 2: Acclimation day at Leh

Today is reserved for you to get assimilated into the cold weather of Leh. You need to get well- acquainted with the climatic conditions of Leh as in the coming days you must face most chilled weather of Ladakh. Get some sightseeing today and enjoy the local cuisine within the markets of Leh. Take a glance at the art and craft of the town market and purchase if you wish to remember this trip for your life and lock it up in your priceless possessions. Overnight stay takes place in your hotel.

Day 3: Leh- Zingchen. Trek to Rumbak valley.

Post your breakfast, kickstart this wonder trip by taking the trail that leads to Zingchen formerly and later to the valley of Rumbak. The trek for today gets concluded within 6 hours, thus reaching at an altimeter of 12, 000 ft approx. This valley has so much to offer to you, as this is the landscape where Hemis National Park is situated. You need to first drive to Phey. After reaching Phey descend into the gorge of Zingchen, moving past the Indus river and some rocky cliffs along the trail. On the last leg of the day, trek towards Rumbak Valley. Overnight stay takes place in the tents at the campsite.

Day 4: Rumbak Valley - Yurutse via Stok La

After you are done with the appetizing breakfast for the day, move out of the tent site and trek towards Stok La. Once you get along the trail, you must first reach to Stok La and further to Yurutse, the campsite for the night. Rumbak valley is a great landscape that offers you rich flora and fauna. Flora consists of distinguished flowers like juniper, populus - Salix forests, fir, Anemone, Gentiana, Thalictrum, Lloydia, Veronica, Delphinium and many other. The fauna includes most importantly snow leopard, Argali, Bharal, Shapu, Ibex and many more. Some of these wildlife species are extinct or endangered in most of the other parts of the country. Campsite for the night will be within this vicinity.

Day 5-10: Snow leopard exploring at Hemis National Park

On all these 5 days you need to spot a snow leopard within the surroundings of Hemis National park. You need to move around the whole vicinity to see the signs of snow leopard. The winter time is the only period in which such wildlife creatures move to the lower ends of the terrains. After days of trying you are surely going to witness the beautiful yet fierce-eyed creature within the environment of the park. Come back to your respective campsite and get some hot servings within your tents. Stay overnight at the camping site.

Day 11. Trek to Zingchen. Drive to Leh

After spotting a snow leopard and other wild creatures at Hemis National park, now its time to move back to the first leg of the trip, Leh. At first, you must revert to Zingchen through Rumbak village thus reaching Phey. Cross the bridge at phey and have a comfortable drive to the capital city, Leh. Check into the hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 12: Departure from Leh

Today you need to depart from Ladakh. Once your flight takes off, you will be able to view the breathtakingly beautiful glaciers through the windows. Bid adieu to Ladakh and its mesmerizing beauty.

Before you start the trek, it is important to understand the implications of altitude on your body. Be aware of symptoms of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) like mild headache, nausea and general discomfort.

If you feel any of these symptoms, inform the Guide on priority and follow his instructions. Every campsite has as stretcher, fully equipped first aid kit, oxygen cylinders to address the situation.

Weather is unpredictable in the Himalayas. Though we are always observant about the changing weather, no one can guarantee a snowfall, rain or Sun. Do understand that your security is of utmost importance to us and we will not proceed any further from the campsite if the weather is not favourable.

The decision of the Trek Leaders and Guides to proceed or wait for the weather to get better will be final.

Injuries Often, while trekking over difficult terrains, you might have minor injuries like leg sprain, bruises etc. Serious injuries like fractures or major cuts are very rare.

All our Guide are trained to handle emergencies and can tackle minor injuries with a well-equipped first aid kit. In case of serious injuries, the patient is carried on a stretcher to the nearest road-head and is led to nearest medical centre.

Lack of communication devices In the remote areas of the Himalayas, mobile networks do not reach. On a trek, one is cut off from the world of calls, SMSs or watsapps.

We rely on walkie-talkies and runners to communicate between the campsites and the base camps.

Experience of any high altitude trek at least 1 trek The climber must be fit and have sufficient stamina to cover 5 km of distance in 45 minutes without a stress. The climber should be able to carry a 10 kg backpack. Heart problem, high blood pressure, asthma, and epilepsy cannot be reconciled on this mission. The climber must not have the conditions mentioned above.
