Overview

This excursion commences from the City Beautiful Chandigarh thus moving through the Queen of Hills Shimla and finally reverting to Chandigarh by the end. During the trip you are going to witness the beautified landscapes of Shimla, Sangla,. Chitkul, Saharan , Jibhi and Kalpa. The tour package of 5 nights and 6 days gives you a perfect amalgamation of beauty and nature.

Brief Itinerary
Day 1: Chandigarh to Shimla

To kick start this beautiful journey from Chandigarh to Shimla you need to arrive at the Queen of Hills. There are around two routes to reach Shimla. One is via NH-5 and another one is via Kunihar - Ghanahatti. The travel takes around 3 h 55 min to cover 112 km through the former route whereas the later route takes 4 h 9 min, thus covering around 114.1 km respectively.

Day 2: Shimla to Sangla

The voyage begins by your visit to different Temples that are situated along the way from Shimla to Sarahan and further to Sangla on the same day. Visit Sun Temple and Bhimakali Temple situated along the route. From Sarahan head towards Sangla Village and later you will arrive at the twin settlements Rackcham. stay within the settlement of Sangla overnight.

Day 3:Sangla to Chitkul to Kalpa

Head from Sangla Village to the settlement of Chitkul. You will also witness the historic fort of Kamru today. Another sight for the day is the famous orchids destination of kalpa. Kalpa is situated in the Kinnaur district of H.P. This place is elevated at an average height of 9,710 ft. The village of Kalpa is located just above Recong Peo. This place is famous for its apple cultivation. The spot looks magnificent during monsoon season. Stay overnight at Kalpa and move towards Shimla the next day.

Day 4: Kalpa to Sarahan

Post your tempting meals, you need to travel back from Kalpa to Sarahan. Moving past villages of Sangla, Chitkul, Rackcham you move into the landscape of Sarahan. Visit Sun Temple and Bhimakali Temple situated at Sangla while moving from Kapla to Sarahan. Stay overnight at Sarahan.

Day 5: Sarahan to Jibhi

Today you witness the majestic valley of Jibhi. You need to travel from Sarahan to for about 4 h 40 min. The distance between the two is of 131km thus taking the route of NH5 and NH305. Jibhi, the heaven within Himachal Pradesh is situated in Banjar Valley. To reach Jibhi, you need to get going towards AUT that comes before the tunnel, further moving towards Banjar Valley i.e 27 kms from AUT. When you move 8 km forward, you cross the pass of Jalori and desend into Jibhi. Lower Jibhi is called as Jaipur. Stay overnight at the landscape of Jibhi.

Day 6: Jibhi to Chandigarh

Get done with your morning meals and cover the last leg of this exiquiste trip. You need to travel through the following cities - Banjar, Kullu, Manali, Rohtang Pass, Jalori Pass, Sainj, Rampur, Shimla and finally revert to Chandigarh. Bid adieu to the wondrous valley of Himachal Pradesh.

    Himachal Pradesh has two narrow gauge Rail tracks i.e. Kalka to Shimla and Pathankot to Jogindernagar. On both these lines run the mini trains, popularly called 'Toy Trains' by the tourists. Travelling on these trains is a thrilling experience as the lines, trains and the landscape of charming hills, tunnels and bridges and valleys, which one encounters on the way leaves a lasting impression of ecstasy and joy.

    Ensure that your vehicle is securely locked before you leave it. Don't leave cash or jewellery in your vehicle.

    Shop at Government emporiums. Prices are reasonable and quality assured. Himachal Emporium outlets are located at Bilaspur, Chamba, Dharamshala, Mandi, Kullu, Keylong, Reckong Peo, Nahan, Solan, and Shimla. Outside the state, these are at New Delhi, Bangalore and Chandigarh. You can also buy directly from craftsmen located throughout Himachal. But if you plan to carry them overseas, do take a receipt for customs.

    For electrical appliances, check voltage, 220 V is the standard in the state. Socket type-two pin/three pin.,

    Normal banking hours are 10.00 am to 2.00 pm from Monday to Fridays, and 10.00 am to noon on Saturday. Some banks also have eveningcounters but these rarely deal in foreign currency. Banks remain closed on Sunday and gazette holidays.

    It is advisable to cover yourself with travel insurance for theft,loss and medi-claim.

    Unleaded petrol is available at selected stations only.

    Do not leave your cash and valuables in your hotel rooms. Keep your cash divided in different pockets.

    Do not trust strangers.

    During the monsoon season (July-August), be careful while driving on the road because of slippery conditions and land-slides/ rock-falls.

    Sunscreen and moisturizing lotion

    Himachal Pradesh is cold and as you know cold air can make your skin feel extremely dry, remember to carry moisturizing lotion with you. Kids are generally more prone to dry skin due to cold weather; therefore, it is essential to carry your personal favorite moisturizer. Same goes for sunscreen lotion. Snow reflects sunlight and even intensifies it, so it’s helpful to wear sunscreen when you head outdoors.

    Warm clothes

    Himachal Pradesh is colder than states in the south and west of India throughout the year. Due to the low temperatures in this region, it is important for you to pack heavy sweaters, thermal innerwear, and woolen socks on your trip to Himachal.

    ID proofs

    When traveling to Himachal, it is always a good idea to have your government-issued ID proofs handy. You may be asked to produce them at any point, but to ensure a stress-free holiday, remember to carry your PAN card, Aadhar card, driver’s license, or any other ID card.

    Appropriate shoes

    Considering your itinerary and the weather conditions of Himachal when you are traveling there, do pack appropriate shoes. You may have to walk a lot for sightseeing or trekking on hilly terrain, therefore, choose the most suitable walking shoes to bring along.

    Medication
