The Himalayas has always been admired due to its mesmerizing beauty and lush greenery. The place has served as a pacifier to many people. It takes you into another realm of nature and physical artistry. In these beautiful dales lies an adventure, surely that's not to be missed by any adventurist. This motorbike trip begins from Leh and ends in the valley of Srinagar. Both these places are so beautiful that people get awe-struck when they see the nature around them stretched for miles together. If you are a nature lover and an enthusiastic bike rider, then this safari is for you.
Reach the capital in the morning and get going towards the hotel that has been allotted to you. Take rest in the former hours of the day and get well-versed with the climatic conditions of Leh. You may happen to meet your companions for this Safari on the same day and get conversant with them. By the time it's evening, you will be introduced to your motorbikes and will be authorized to have a short ride around the area. Get some sleep by the night at hotels and start afresh by the next morning.
Leh is considered Mecca for the tourists around the globe due to its untouched beauty of snowcapped mountains and majestic valleys comprising both Indian and Tibetan culture. You can go around the central market of Leh to get some art and craft stuff as a memory. And later stroll through the magnificent monasteries, Royal palaces, towns, and forts. Some of the notable places to visit are- Alchi, Likir, Leh Palace, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Sangam Point, Stok Palace, Hall of fame, Shanti Stupa, Thiksey Monastery. Later in the evening get back to your restrooms at the hotel and stay there for the night.
Nubra valley was once the popular route for trading that took place between India and China. This valley has acquired its fame due to its overall splendid look. Its beauty is distinguished from the rest of the valleys that are grounded in Leh. In this valley, the river Shyok meets Siachen river thus forming a large lowland which separates Ladakh and Karakoram Ranges. Maitreya Buddha statue is the prominent sight of Nubra Valley which is maintained by the Diskit Monastery. The main access to the Nubra Valley is though Khardung La pass. This road is open throughout the year. This pass is the second highest motorable road in the world standing at an altimeter of 17,582 ft. Stay overnight in this valley and get ready for the next level adventure for the following day.
Post breakfast, kickstart your voyage and head towards the mesmerizing site of Pangong Lake. There are two routes moving into Pangong Tso one goes via Wari La- Chang La and the other is via Agham- Shyok village. The best route acclaimed is the latter one and less time-consuming. The bridges and the roads are quite decent ones. From Nubra Valley move into Agham village. From there descend into the village of Shyok. Moving ahead you move into the landscape of Pangong Tso. On this day you are going to catch the glimpse of the famous Pangong Lake. Pangong lake is situated at an altimeter of 14,270 ft. This lake has gathered so many admirers around the globe due to its praiseworthy beauty. People having the first glance at it almost thought it to be a hypothetical spot. To reach this dreamlike destination you need to cover up 90 km from Nubra Valley. This spot has even acclaimed its fame through many Bollywood movies over the past years. Overnight stay takes place in the landscape of Pangong Lake.
After a great day of sightseeing yesterday, you need to revert from the charismatic Pangong Lake after you freshen up and are done with your meals. Quick start the journey for the day covering about 150 km. The time needed to cover up this distance is about 5 hours to be precise. On your way back, you can visit some of the monuments, for instance, the majestic Thiksey Monastery. As you arrive in the city, head towards your hotel and stay overnight in the warm and cozy room.
As you are done with your brunch, kickstart your travel and reach the second largest town of Ladakh- Kargil. This town is 234 km from Leh which takes a maximum of 8 hours to cover up the distance from Leh to Kargil. Ride through the longest National Highway, NH-1 to reach the desired destination. Green mountains snow-capped all over the range, the clouds encircling the Cyprus trees that are placed over the peaks and the rocky terrains is what the journey would be all about. You are even going to see the marvelous rivers through the trip, River Zanskar, and Indus river. You can even visit Basgo Palace and Lamayuru monastery which is one of the ancient monasteries of Ladakh on the way. Another popular site among the tourists is the Giant Buddha at Mulbek. Once you reach Kargil, take a look at the landscape by the evening and as its night have a stay in the hotel at Kargil.
After finishing your breakfast in the morning hours of the day, get on your bikes and head towards Srinagar. The traveling distance from Kargil sector to Srinagar is about 294 km which concludes by the end of 6 hours. You are going to move past Zojila pass which is at an altitude of 11,574 ft. This pass is the second highest point on Leh- Srinagar artery. You are going to witness the beautiful landscape of Ladakh during the trail over the Grand Trunk Road. As you arrive in the summer capital of the state get into your hotels and take rest for the remaining part of the day.
The concluding day of this motorbike safari ends on this day. You are probably going to do some sightseeing in the capital in the former part of the day and head back towards your hometown through your suitable services by the time it is evening. This expedition will surely get into your golden memories and you will recall it every time someone talks about an adventure in a life.
Solid riding skills, a sense of adventure and flexibility are a must when taking part in our Himalayan motorcycle expedition, which covers around hundreds of kilometers and considerable altitude differences. The road conditions along the Leh to Ladakh route vary from freshly-paved to rough tracks. While we never actually leave the road, off-road skills can come in handy on some of the tracks that we will ride on. It's also important to note that it's virtually impossible to predict the weather and road conditions in the Himalayas during the months in which the rest of India is experiencing the monsoon. Landslides and abrupt weather changes can force us to change our bike tour program on very short notice. You can certainly look forward to great biking adventure. Adjusting to the altitude - Our bike trip of Ladakh in the Indian Himalayas starts in Leh at 3,500 meters, so it will be essential to take a couple of days to adjust to the altitude. In our experience, everyone will have recovered from any mild altitude-related symptoms - headaches, dizziness or sleeplessness - by then. In the past ten years, we haven't had any cases of true altitude sickness among any of the participants of the similar Zanskar & Ladakh bike trip.
