This expedition over a motorbike from Manali to Srinagar and then back is going to give you an experience of a lifetime. The trip gives you a feeling of contentment and you are precisely going to recall it for the rest of your life. Highroads towards Srinagar from Manali comprises of the best scenery and roads throughout the expedition. These peaks for most of the time are covered with snow which is surrounded by the Cyprus trees, the streams and rivers moving along the way and those high-altitude scenes gives it a perfect picturesque look. The distance that needs to be covered overall is 546 km from Manali to Srinagar. Both the places are blessed with divine beauty of peaks and greenery.
As you board the convenience according to your suitability towards Manali, get going to the hotel that has been assigned to you. Get well acquainted with the climatic conditions of the Manali city. Reserve this day for taking rest so that you feel more energetic and enthusiastic for the later part of the trip.
Post breakfast you are going to meet your fellow mates for the motorbike trip. On this day you need to get assimilated into the weather situations of Manali. You can stroll through the heartbeat of Manali-Mall Road and purchase a gift of art too for your loved ones. You can wander around the old town and the other sites such as Hadimba Temple, The Great Himalayan National Park, the dreamy landscape of Kullu, Manu Temple, Manali Sanctuary are among the list of attractions. If you are an adventurist, you can go for an unusual and exciting experience like Skiing or Paragliding within the landscape of Manali. By evening you will be introduced to your motorbikes and you can take a short ride around the city of Manali. Overnight stay in your hotels and get mentally prepared for the motorbike expedition for the following day.
Kickstart, your trail from Manali post breakfast. The day is going to be among the memorable moments of your life as your trip is going to be filled with a lot of happenings. On this day you need to cover up around 240km moving past Rohtang La pass and thus descending into Marhi at an elevated height of 10,800 ft you are going to witness some of the most charming valleys of the trip. The roads assembling into the landscape of Jispa are broad and brilliant. Gramphu (10,500 ft), Kokhsar, Sissu(10,270 ft), Tandi(8,430 ft), Keylong(10,100 ft) are the sites which need to be crossed to reach Jispa having a helipad, a post office and a monastery in its vicinity. Just before Jispa, Keylong is the place that attracts many tourists which halt in this landscape. Jispa, the desired destination for the day offers you the perfect picturesque of what an ideal valley should be like. Overnight stay in the hotel/camp and then move ahead the next day.
After you are done with your breakfast, proceed towards Sarchu which is at an elevation of 14,100 ft above the sea level. The total road trip for the day concludes after the completion of 190 km. From Jispa you need to ride your bike towards Darcha which is at an altimeter of 11,020. The highroad leading towards Darcha is a blend of off-road and decent ones. At Darcha you need to register yourself to ride ahead on this motorbike expedition. Moving from Darcha you need to ride upwards to the elevated height of 14,010 ft reaching Zingzingbar. You need to take a steep ride and arrive at 16,500 ft thus mark yourself safe at the Baralachala Pass, an upland that is situated in between the Himalayan Range and the Pir Panjal range. Moving past Baralachala Pass, you are going to take a steady ride towards Bharatpur. As you are descending towards Sarchu, you need to take permission from the check post here as this being the last area of Himachal Pradesh. Ahead of Sarchu, you move into Ladakh region of J&K.
You need to reach Leh which stands at an altitude of 11,483 ft above the sea level. You must finish the day's trip within 10 hours covering about 250 km. On this day you must cross the world's second largest motorbike pass viz Tanglang La Pass, at an altimeter of 17,480 ft. You are going to witness some of the notified places viz Gata loops having 21 hairpin curves, and 45 km long Pang ground. After you are through Nakee La pass and Lachulung La pass, move ahead and reach pang and then on to infamous Tanglang pass grounded at 17,480 ft. As you get through Tanglang La you move into the valley of Upshi, situated just along the shores of Indus river. This valley provides you with a perfect picture of what a lowland valley should comprise of. There also happens to be a helipad at Upshi and the roads descending towards Leh are excellent. As soon as you reach an elevation of 11,483 ft, cherish the city of Leh. The night stay takes place in the hotel/guest room.
This day you are going to witness one of the most beautiful and ideal sites of Leh i.e Pangong Lake. This site has been filmed for movies many times and people have even felt awe-struck when they catch the first glimpse of such hypnotized site. The tourists tend to feel lost in the captivating beauty of this Lake that looks bluish green in nature. Pangong lake is situated at an altimeter of 14,270 ft. This lake has gathered so many admirers around the globe due to its praiseworthy beauty. Pangong lake is situated at an altimeter of 14,270 ft. Overnight stay takes place in the landscape of Pangong Lake.
After a great day of sightseeing yesterday, you need to revert from the charismatic Pangong Lake after you freshen up and are done with your meals. Quick start the journey for the day covering about 150 km. The time needed to cover up this distance is about 5 hours to be precise. On your way back, you can visit some of the monuments, for instance, the majestic Thiksey Monastery. As you arrive in the city, head towards your hotel and stay overnight in the warm and cozy room.
Once you are done with the morning meals, start up your motorbike and head on the trail descending into the valley of Nubra. Nubra valley was once the popular route for trading that took place between India and China. This valley has acquired its fame due to its overall splendid look. Its beauty is distinguished from the rest of the valleys that are grounded in Leh. In this valley, the river Shyok meets Siachen river thus forming a large lowland which separates Ladakh and Karakoram Ranges. Maitreya Buddha statue is the prominent sight of Nubra Valley which is maintained by the Diskit Monastery. The main access to the Nubra Valley is though Khardung La pass. This road is open throughout the year. This pass is the second highest motorable road in the world standing at an altimeter of 17,582 ft. Stay overnight in this valley and get ready for the next level adventure for the following day
As soon as you are up, get going towards the Capital and do some sightseeing. It's all up to you what you want to do for a day at Leh. You can take a glance at the places you missed on the very first day of the expedition. Sightseeing at Leh has always been fascinating due to its lovely and royal monasteries, palaces and the typical showrooms of the central markets. Stroll through the bazaars and take rest at your hotel room by the time its dusk.
Post your brunch, kickstart your travel and reach the second largest town of Ladakh- Kargil. This town is 234 km from Leh which takes a maximum of 8 hours to cover up the distance from Leh to Kargil. Ride through the longest National Highway, NH-1 to reach the desired destination. Green mountains snow-capped all over the range, the clouds encircling the Cyprus trees that are placed over the peaks and the rocky terrains is what the journey would be all about. You are even going to see the marvelous rivers through the trip- Zanskar and Indus along with the infamous Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pather Sahib, and Lamayuran Moon Land. You can even visit Basgo Palace and Lamayuru monastery which is one of the ancient monasteries of Ladakh on the way. Another popular site among the tourists is the Giant Buddha at Mulbek. Once you reach Kargil, take a look at the landscape by the evening and as its night have a stay in the hotel at Kargil.
After finishing your breakfast in the morning hours of the day, get on your bikes and head towards Srinagar. The traveling distance from Kargil sector to Srinagar is about 294 km which concludes by the end of 6 hours. You are going to move past Zojila pass which is at an altitude of 11,574 ft. This pass is the second highest point on Leh- Srinagar artery. You are going to witness the beautiful landscape of Ladakh during the trail over the Grand Trunk Road. As you arrive in the summer capital of the state get into your hotels and take rest for the remaining part of the day.
The concluding day of this motorbike safari ends on this day. You are probably going to do some sightseeing in the capital in the former part of the day and head back towards your hometown through your suitable services by the time its evening. This expedition will surely get into your golden memories and you will recall it every time someone talks about an adventure in a life.
