A Visit to The Queen of Hills

Jakhoo Hill, Mall Road, Kalka�Shimla Railway, Christ Church, Indian Institute Of Advanced Study, Summer Hill, Kufri, Annandale,The Shimla State Museum,Chail, Solan and Daranghati Sanctuary. This trip of 5 night 6 days gives you a perfect sense of British India and it's architecture along with it's beguiling beauty.

Brief Itinerary
D1: Delhi to Shimla

To kick start this epic journey, you need to travel from the capital Delhi to the Queen of Hills- Shimla. The distance between the two cities is of 360km which eventually gets concluded within 8-10 hrs of travel. Get on the Volvo bus and travel with other mates to Shimla. The prominent cities that needs to be crossed are Delhi, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Chandigarh, Kalka, Solan, Shoghi, Tara Devi and finally reaching Shimla. Overnight will be spend inside Volvo bus.

D2: Shimla to Sarahan

Today's journey includes your visit to different Temples that are situated along the way from Shimla to Sarahan. The distance covered of 163 km accomplished in 5 hours of​ travel. Visit the Sun temple at Nirath and Rampur. Further moving towards Sarahan, Visit the temple of Bhimakali , stated as one of the Shaktipeeths in Hindu Mythology.

D3: Sarahan to Sangla to Chitkul

Post an appetizing breakfast, start you trip from Sarahan to Sangla. Visit the settlements of Sangla village and if you move further you are going to arrive at the twin settlements of Chitkul and Rackcham. You will also witness the historic fort of Kamru today. Return to Sangla by evening and stay there overnight.

D4: Sangla to Kalpa

As you wake up get ready to move to the another sight of Himachal- Kalpa. This place is situated in the Kinnaur district of H.P. This place is elevated at an average height of 9,710 ft. The village of Kalpa is located just above Recong Peo. This place is famous for its apple cultivation. The spot looks magnificent during monsoon season. Stay overnight at Kalpa and move towards Shimla the next day.

D5: Kalpa to Shimla

On this day you have to revert to the Queen of hills- Shimla by the evening. There are in all two routes to reach Shimla one via NH-5 and MHR22 and another one through Theog - Hatkoti - Rohru Road. The former is at a distance of 221 km and the later at 289 km from Shimla. The only difference is the time duration to cover up the distance from Kalpa to Shimla. The former route takes only 7 hours while the other route takes around 9 hr 40 min. The most sorted way is via NH-5. Overnight stay will be at Hotel at Shimla.

D6: Shimla to Delhi

Bid adieu to British kingdom Capital - Shimla and move towards Delhi. The distance between the two cities is of 360km which eventually gets concluded within 8-10 hrs of travel. You need to travel through the Volvo bus and arrive at Delhi. You need to cross the same cities as on day one. Overnight will be spend inside Volvo bus with you arriving at Delhi the other day.

In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled or change of dates might happen, and in such cases the operator will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity. However no refund will be provided for the same.

    Himachal Toy Trains

    Himachal Pradesh has two narrow gauge Rail tracks i.e. Kalka to Shimla and Pathankot to Jogindernagar. On both these lines run the mini trains, popularly called 'Toy Trains' by the tourists. Travelling on these trains is a thrilling experience as the lines, trains and the landscape of charming hills, tunnels and bridges and valleys, which one encounters on the way leaves a lasting impression of ecstasy and joy.

    Shop at Government emporiums. Prices are reasonable and quality assured. Himachal Emporium outlets are located at Bilaspur, Chamba, Dharamshala, Mandi, Kullu, Keylong, Reckong Peo, Nahan, Solan, and Shimla. Outside the state, these are at New Delhi, Bangalore and Chandigarh. You can also buy directly from craftsmen located throughout Himachal. But if you plan to carry them overseas, do take a receipt for customs.

    For electrical appliances, check voltage, 220 V is the standard in the state. Socket type-two pin/three pin.,

    Normal banking hours are 10.00 am to 2.00 pm from Monday to Fridays, and 10.00 am to noon on Saturday. Some banks also have eveningcounters but these rarely deal in foreign currency. Banks remain closed on Sunday and gazette holidays.

    It is advisable to cover yourself with travel insurance for theft,loss and medi-claim.

    Unleaded petrol is available at selected stations only.

    Do not leave your cash and valuables in your hotel rooms. Keep your cash divided in different pockets.

    Do not trust strangers.

    During the monsoon season (July-August), be careful while driving on the road because of slippery conditions and land-slides/ rock-falls.
