After landing in Leh complete rest for acclimatisation as we are at a high altitude of 10,682 ft. Explore around the Leh city in the evening, after ample rest - visit the beautiful Shanti Stupa, that promotes peace and prosperity built years ago marking 2500 years of Buddhism, and Leh palace that gives an amazing view of the city. Later head tol Leh Market to shop Tibetan handicrafts and delicious Ladakhi cuisine. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Today we explore the Sham Valley on the Srinagar - Leh highway. Head out for the excursion after a hearty breakfast -
● Hall of Fame to pay homage to the Indo-Pak wars
● Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, to enjoy a delicious langar and know the history behind construction of the Gurudwara by the army.
● Magnetic Hill, a short stretch that defies the phenomena of gravity.
Indus Sangam Viewpoint, the confluence of Zanskar and Indus rivers, also the world’s highest river rafting point.
Rest of the evening for Leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
We start our journey to discover the Nubra valley post breakfast at the hotel and checkout. As we drive via Khardung La, witness the highest accessible Motorable road in the World, at 18,380 ft. The changing landscapes, from valleys, gushing rivers, high mountains, and desert will take you to Nubra. A stopover at Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery with an enchanting Buddha statue. From there we head to white sand dunes of Hunder. You can enjoy a camel ride on a double humped Bactrian camel, found only in this region. Dinner and overnight stay at the campsite along with a bonfire under the stars experience.
Today we head to the most loved attraction in the Leh region - Pangong Lake, on the Indo-China border at 14,500 ft. After an early breakfast, checkout from the campsite and enjoy the journey with parallel views of the Shyok river on one side and mighty mountains on the other. With soothing shades of blue, green and purple, the tranquillity of the lake will mesmerise you. Dinner and overnight stay at the campsite.
After breakfast we start our journey back to Leh via the Changla Pass at 17,350 ft, the third Highest Motorable road in the world. Sit back and enjoy the drive witnessing some mind blowing landscapes. On the way we visit the Thiksey monastery, the largest gompa in Central Ladakh. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
Today the day is at leisure to explore Leh or relax and rejuvenate. Suggested things to do -

● Visit the Stok Village at the base of the Stok range with Stok Kangri Peak.
● Explore the Leh market and the cafe’s around Leh.
Post breakfast and checkout from the hotel, transfer to the airport, for your onward journey with happy memories of Leh.

Rescheduling Policy
Any rescheduling of trip dates, postpone or prepone due to any valid reason can be done only 15 days or more prior to the tour date confirmed at the time of booking.
No rescheduling will be considered if a confirmed tour starts in less than 15 days.

When to come?
Ladakh is open for tourists throughout the year, while the best period for the cultural tour is between April and October ending. For adventure tours June to October is the suitable period. Most of the trekking routes are closed after November due to snow at high passes except the Liker to Khaltsey trek. The best period for Chadar-trek (frozen river trek) to Zanskar is from January to mid-March.
The festivals of Stok, Matho and New Year take place in winter and it is possible to visit monasteries in winters. There are few hotels and guest houses with heating facilities in Leh that provide accommodation in winter.
Getting Acquainted: Ladakh is spread over an area of 97,000 Sq. Kms and lies on an average of 3500 meters above the sea level. Ladakh has a population of around 1,70,000.
Climate: Temperature in summer (June to September) can touch 35 c and minus 30 c in late December and January. Annual rainfall is 6’’
Visa and Permit: Tourist can reach Leh with normal Indian tourist visa and does not require any special visa or permit. However, the foreign tourists are required to register themselves at Drass, Rumtse and Sarchu if they are travelling by road. Those travelling by air get themselves registered at the airport. The tourist, both foreign and domestic are required to get permit for restricted areas like Tsomoriri, Tsokar, Pangong Lakes, Dhahanu and Nubra Valley, Which can obtained through registered travel agencies.
Currency, Money Exchange & credit Card: The local currency is Indian Rupees. There are authorized agencies for money exchange for USD or Euro traveler cheque and cash. You should insist for a receipt, which will help you in reconverting the money whenever you desire. Credit Cards are accepted by major Travel Agents, hotels and antique shops on paying 2.5% service charge.
Time difference: The Indian Standard time (IST) is as per the calculation done in the Allahabad city. IST is 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead of London, 4 hours and 30 minutes ahead of Paris and about 10 hours and 30 minutes behind the New York City.
How to Reach?
The Air india, Jet airways, go air, vistra etc operate New Delhi to Leh,Srinagar to Leh, Jammu to Leh, Chandigarh to Leh and also Mumbai to Leh.
Road: The Srinagar Leh road remains open from early April to December. And the Manali-Leh road remains open from early June to mid–November
What To Bring
Clothing: The temperature in mid summer is pleasant requiring T-shirt and shorts in the daytime but in evening temperature drips and you need jacket or pullover. While trekking above 4000m, you need warm cloths. Sometimes there is rain or snow in early June and August. Therefore, you need wind sheeter or raincoat.
Shoes: Good waterproof shoes are needed while trekking and extra Pair of shoes or slippers is useful while crossing the rivers.
Ruck Sack:Two ruck sacks are needed. One small handbag for your camera, water bottle, pack lunch and a space for jacket. Bigger one to carrying clothes with extra layer to be safe from rain and dust. Sleeping Bag: Summer sleeping bag is enough if you are travelling between mid June to mid September and warm winter sleeping bag is required if you are travelling between mid September to mid June. You can also rent very good sleeping bags from trekking companies in Leh.
Avoid Acute Mountain Sickness: Acute mountain sickness can occur to any one at an altitude above 10,000 ft. above sea level, therefore, make it sure to take complete rest on the day of arrival.
Accommodation: There are hundreds of family run hotel and Guest Houses in Leh to suit every pocket.
Food: All the hotel and restaurants serve Local Ladakhi, Tibetan, Indian, Chinese, Italian and continental cuisines.
Street Hawkers: Generally there are no street hawkers in Leh Town, but at time you might come across people in the street trying to lure you to their shops. You should discourage such practices, it may cause inconvenience to you later.
Telecommunication facility: Telephone & Fax facilities are available in Leh, Padum, Kargil and Nubra Valley.
Postal Service: Foreign airmail rate is Rs 15 for a letter,which is not exceeding 20 grams in weight for Australia,Japan,Europe and America .For aerogramme Rs 8.50 and Post Card Rs 8/-.
Internet Service: Internet and e-mail services are available in the Leh town.
Clicking portraits of interesting people: it would be advisable to ask before clicking a picture of individual or even group of people. However, a tourist should refuse to give money if asked for.
Drinking Water: It would be convenient to carry a water purification set with you on a trek. It is even safe to use boiled fresh water during the trek.The Dzomsa Laundry in the main market sell high pressure boiled water for Rs 7 per liter. You can bring your water bottle or container to get it filled with the chemical-free safe drinking water at the Dzomsa Laundry.
Plastic Bags: Ladakh is perhaps the only region in India where the use of plastic bag is officially banned. So, the plastic carry bags that you see in other parts of India are not seen in Leh. However, market goods in readymade plastics packages are there. A trekker should ensure that the biodegradable camping wastes are buried properly and burn the non biodegradable ones before they move further.
National Park: All the trekking routes fall under the sensitive wildlife habitat area including the Hemis National Park. In fact Ladakh is a place where villages are part of the vast wilderness that harbours rich but sparse wildlife. Some of the species are even endangered ones. Therefore, one should be extremely careful about not causing any disturbance to the vulnerable wildlife habitat while on trek.
Hiring Taxi from outside Leh: Hired taxis from outside Ladakh are not allowed to be used for local sightseeing and jeep-safari. You can book the non-local taxis only to drop you at Leh or for your return trip while leaving Ladakh. You have to hire local taxis for local sightseeing and jeep safaris. However, there is no restriction for those traveling in their own private cars.
Ladakh experiences considerable fluctuations in the day and night temperatures, even during the summer. While the days are pretty warm, sometimes even hot due to the effect of the rugged topography, the evenings can become chilly, requiring additional clothing. It is, therefore, advisable to keep a pullover and / or an anorak or jacket handy. Sturdy walking shoes with strong rubber / synthetic soles for grip, cotton socks (woolen for late autumn tours besides and trekking trips are some of the other items required for the trip.

Dress / Equipment
Comfortable trousers, preferably of warm material (cotton or wool mix) and / or Jeans.
Thermal undergarments & sweat shirts / warm shirts for trips during April - May & from Mid September onwards).
A full-sleeved pullover as well as a half sleeved sweeter (for use during warm days).
Wind proof outer wear / jacket / parka, sun hat and a pair of good quality sunglasses with sufficient filter-factor to check the sun's ultraviolet rays.
A cap or balaclava (for use when the weather turns bad especially for trips to the higher places such as Pangong Lake, Tsomo-riri, Khadongla and the Manali-Leh road journeys.
Comfortable walking shoes/sneakers with thick cotton socks (avoid fancy shoes/sandals).
For ladies : Trousers or Shalwar suite (worn over thermal inner or tights during April through May & from September onwards only), woolen sweaters / cardigans, a windproof jacket or a shawl, walking shoes with comfortable soles / sneakers. (Avoid Saris & Sandals).
It is also suggested to carry a flashlight on the tour, especially for those spending nights outside Leh town such as Pangong Lake, Tsomoriri Lake, Nubra Valley and on trekking trips.
Miscellaneous
All essential medicines, including those prescribed by personal physician (if any)
Sun screen, lip- salve, moisturizers, antiseptic creams, etc.
Medicines for altitude sickness, if required.
Acclimatization
If you are traveling to Leh by air, you must take complete rest for a day for adjustment to the high altitude and low oxygen level of Ladakh. High altitude sickness or Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a risky condition faced by tourists who do not allow sufficient time for acclimatization upon reaching Leh.
The most common symptoms of altitude sickness are breathlessness, coughing, disturbed sleep, headache, inability to concentrate; lassitude, loss of appetite, nausea etc. Following precautions are recommended to avoid being affected by high altitude problems:
Take complete rest at least for a day after arrival;
Move about slowly and breathe deeply till your body becomes used to the high altitude and low level of oxygen.
Take plenty of fluid.
Important – It's generally suggested that one Diamox tablet per day should be taken for 2- 3 days prior to your departure for Leh by air, and continue it within Ladakh for a day or two, if required, to overcome the effect of high altitude.
However, you MUST consult your doctor and confirm if you can take diuretic medicines like Diamox.
Remember : You might feel ‘ normal ' upon landing at Leh, but that's an illusion which needs to be ignored because the effect of the altitude and low oxygen level hits you slowly. It is important that you do not exert yourself on the first couple of days after reaching Leh, as your body needs time to acclimatize. Visa and Permit : Foreign Tourists can visit Ladakh on a normal Indian tourist visa and no special visa or permit is required to visit Ladakh. However, all tourists to Ladakh, whether domestic or foreigner, are required to obtain Protected Area Permit / Inner-line Permit from the Deputy Commissioner Leh's office for visiting the restricted areas like Tsomoriri, Tsokar, Pangong Lakes, Dah-Hanou and the Nubra Valley. The services of a registered travel agency should be taken to get these permits.
Credit Card / Cash : For purchase of commodities or services or souvenirs cash is generally sought as Credit Card charging is not common and is uncertain due to frequent connectivity problems.
ATM : State Bank of India & J&K Bank has ATM points in Leh & Kargil town. Punjab National Bank operates an ATM point in Leh. These remain mostly crowded with long queues. Sometimes they even run out of cash.
Mobile Phone Service : Mobile phones with post-paid connection of BSNL are operational in most parts of Ladakh. In Leh Town area postpaid connections of Airtel & Vodafone Networks also work fairly well.
ID Card / ID Proof : Remember to carry a valid photo ID Card with you. This will be useful for a variety of purposes – identification at checkpoint, getting Restricted/ Protected Area Permits, Check-in at airports / hotels etc.
Useful Tips : In Ladakh, you will find a culture in rapid transition, yet one in which the traditional values are still largely intact. In order to make your visit to Ladakh more pleasant, both for yourself and for the host community, following steps / precautions may be helpful.
Dress Code : Please avoid wearing shorts and sleeveless shirts, blouses, tops, undershirts etc. in public and especially in monasteries, mosques, temples, gurudhwaras, and churches. The same holds true on the trekking routes. While short clothing is acceptable in camp-sites away from human habitation, they should be changed for trousers, slacks and blouses in villages where you might stop. Under no event should swimwear (and for women bikini tops) be worn in public as these may be taken as sexually provocative and be a cause of possible harassment.
Behaviour Code : Please keep your affection for your partner as a private matter and confined to your own rooms or tents, but not for public display, on the street, in religious buildings, in restaurants or at public events.
Photography : Please do not take photographs of local people without seeking permission, nor of, or within, any religious building and of any religious ceremony, without permission of the official in-charge of the concerned religious place. Remember that the intense light of flash photography is damaging to ancient wall paintings and tapestries placed in the monasteries.
